The 7 Things Couples Wish They Knew Before Hiring a Wedding Videographer

We are so excited to be writing blog posts again!

Here we are with two babies, a new house, and somehow still finding little pockets of time to sit down and write something we have wanted to make for a long time:

A free guide to help brides choose the best wedding videographer for them.

We call it, “The 7 Things Couples Wish They Knew Before Hiring a Videographer”

I feel this is greatly needed as we wish we knew these things before choosing our own wedding videographer and want to help brides avoid the same mistakes we and many other brides make!

We have now moved to Harper TX right near Fredericksburg and Kerrville and can't wait to serve the entire Texas Hill Country!

With the help of my hubby, Michael Dean (the co-owner of this fabulous business) we finally put together something simple, helpful, and packed with good nuggets of info without being overwhelmingly long.

Because let’s be honest, wedding planning already comes with enough to read.

I personally love a good free guide. I will absolutely sign up for one when it comes from someone I trust, so here we are officially joining the club!

And yes, it is completely free. No hard sell, no pressure, and no giant sales pitch pretending to be helpful advice. We really just wanted to create something brides could use to feel more confident, ask better questions, and understand what actually matters when choosing a wedding videographer.

We created this guide because there is way more to choosing a wedding videographer than just watching one pretty highlight reel.

Or even worse… not really watching their work at all.

Below are a few things I think EVERY. SINGLE. BRIDE. should know before hiring a Texas Hill Country wedding videographer.

The 7 Things Couples Wish They Knew Before Hiring a Wedding Videographer cover

1. A pretty video does not always mean a good wedding film

A wedding film can be beautiful and still not tell your story well.

Pretty shots of the dress, rings, flowers, and venue are wonderful — especially with all the gorgeous wedding venues around Fredericksburg and the Texas Hill Country.

But your film should be more than a moving version of your photo gallery.

A truly personal, story-driven wedding film should capture voices, emotion, real moments, and the parts of the day you may have completely missed.

(We break down how to spot this in the full guide.)

2. Audio matters more than most couples realize

You can have the prettiest footage in the world, but if you cannot hear the vows, speeches, interviews, or emotional little moments clearly, something huge is missing.

Years from now, hearing the voices of the people you love may be one of the most meaningful parts of your wedding film.

So when watching a videographer’s work, do not just look.

Listen.

(The guide gives you specific audio questions to ask before booking.)

3. Ask to see the final deliverables

Most couples only watch the highlight film before hiring a wedding videographer.

But the highlight film is only one piece.

You also need to know what the full ceremony looks like, how speeches are edited, how dances are delivered, and what “raw footage” actually means.

Those details matter more than couples realize.

(We explain exactly what to ask for in the guide.)

4. Your film should capture more than staged moments

Your wedding video should not feel like someone simply filmed your photo session.

The real magic is often in the in-between moments:

The getting ready chaos.
The quiet nerves.
The hugs after the ceremony.
The reactions during speeches.
The tiny moments you didn’t even know happened.

A good wedding videographer knows how to capture more than what is scheduled.

They capture what is real.

(Inside the guide, we show you how to judge a videographer’s work for this.)

5. The right wedding film fills the memory gap

Your wedding day will go by so fast.

You will not see everything.
You will not hear everything.
You will not remember every little moment.

That is what we call the memory gap.

A well-made, story-driven wedding film helps fill that gap by preserving the moments photos cannot fully hold, especially through interviews, natural audio, and filming the full day as it unfolds.
